What is "use in commerce"?
In order for a trademark registration to issue to a US applicant, the mark must be used in commerce. A mark is "used in commerce" when it is used in the ordinary course of trade on or in connection with goods sold or transported, or services rendered, in U.S. commerce. This usually you are actually selling the goods or providing the services across state lines.
